
Whether or not you think the government program Cash For Clunkers was a good idea, it took a lot of functional cars off the road.
Two young entrepreneurs, Chris Hedgecock and Jorge Gonzalez from San Diego, saw an opportunity and created Cars for a Grand. The mission was to prove the auto industry didn’t need a bail out, so the So Cal duo purchased this 1974 Pontiac LeMans for $899.89. After replacing a few spark plugs and changing the oil, the two set out on a road trip to Miami. Over 3800 miles total. The entire trip lasted 21 days, with the only problem being a lost piece of windshield trim somewhere in Texas.
